Awsome news from the boys at USP! Big props! Just look at that pipe and listen to that thing sing!
Well, we are happy to report that our MK4 GTI 1.8T has reached its anticipated goal and broken the 10 second barrier! I am really excited to see the car make such consistent progress with such little seat time and much room for improvement! This is now currently the worlds quickest and fastest MK4 GTI 1.8T, and first to break into the 10’s. The car went 10.97 @ 130 its very first pass, and then consistently backed itself with 3 straight 11.0x passes. One pass turned a new personal best 1/8th mile time of 7.15, but due to complications with the clutch locking the car out of 3rd gear, we’ll have to save that pass for another time. The only thing that was changed on the setup since last week is the new Weld / Mickey Thompson 26×8.5×15 wheel and tire combo, which helped the car to a few 1.7x 60’s. We were unable to get the MSD DIS2 ignition 2-Step functioning before the track, so we worked with the original anti-lag.
I would like to thank my whole crew at USP Motorsport for their hard, quality work they’ve put into the car, particularly Brian Kirchberger down from New Jersey helping out. Also, special thanks to owner and driver Mike Rega, we are very lucky to have such an enthusiast with us helping to break records.
On a side note, more great news came yesterday when I was informed that we are cleared to move into our new 4000 square foot shop on June 1st. I am looking forward to this as a chance to better assist developing the South Florida VW/Audi community. New shop plans will be including an in-house dyno!
