The three W Racing Team crew have focused mainly on preparations for the race during qualifying. Within the Belgian team, which will play its first 24 hours with three Audi R8 LMS, optimism was rather strict.
Rain or cloudy. Grooved tires or slicks. The qualifying on Thursday night that determined the grid for the Total 24 Hours of Spa have been marked by what some do not hesitate to call a real weather “francorchamptoise.” In these circumstances it was certainly a good attempt to sign timed to fit the forefront Saturday 16h, but also avoid mistakes that could jeopardize the entire weekend.

Within the W Racing Team, the three crews are thrown on the track aboard their Audi R8 LMS constantly keeping a certain margin of safety. “Our first goal was not to make a time at any price,” explained Vincent Vosse, team manager and – this weekend – a pilot. “Of course, we played the game But the traffic was not easy to manage and it needed a little luck in finding a free ride. What none of our drivers has been really … But that is not essential! We have prepared for the race and the drivers feel comfortable in the car … It’s what’s important before a race 24 hours! “The Audi R8 # 72 that the LMS Verviers stipple sharing with Frank, Frank Biela and Gregory Franchi, author of the clock, will start Saturday the 13th, just ahead of the # 74 driven by Frédéric Bouvy, Christian Kelders and the French Jean-Luc David and Kerry Tuchbant.
The best placed Audi clan WRT finally Lémeret with Stéphane François Verbist, Kurt Mollekens and Stephane Ortelli. Having improved in the last night session, Monaco has in effect placed the # 73 in 9th position. Driver’s usual team in the league of Belgium, François Verbist showed himself confident enough. “We really do not take unnecessary risks,” explained the Mons. “I was embarrassed in the second session, and Stephane also had to pass two slower drivers in the fastest lap. We would have wanted to try to make better time, but what good would that do? I think we should be good enough for the race because the car handles well in all circumstances. We were quick in the rain, we are well on the pace on a dry track and the four pilots of the car – but the same for the other two – are delighted with the handling of our LMS R8. ”

Co-owner and technical officer for the WRT, René Verbist also seemed pleased with the progress of these trials. “We have crews and pilots uniform ready to adopt their pace to preserve the mechanics,” he says. “Lest We Forget that these are only the first 24 hours of the team. The objective will be primarily to go after. We’ll see where it is Sunday morning, but it is obvious that those who will not experience problems during the two clock towers are properly classified under the checkered flag. ”
See you Saturday at 16 hours for a 62 th edition of the Total 24 Hours of Spa, which promises to be exciting!
