Novelties and newly acquired key accounts

At the ‘boot 2010’ in Düsseldorf (23rd until 31st January 2010), Volkswagen Marine will exhibit their extensive engine line up and a wide accessory range in hall 10, stand G21.

Despite serious global economy impacts on the entire worldwide boat building industry throughout 2009, Volkswagen Marine has accomplished a further engine range extension and was able to enter new partnerships with leading boat builders.

The Volkswagen Marine Engine Range does now reach from 29 kW (40hp) to 258 kW (350 hp), this being based on four engine families with four, five, six and eight cylinders. These engines are benchmark setting particularly in the aspects of environmental friendliness, refinement and user comfort.

In addition, they explore new territory for diesel power in high speed boats by means of extremely favorable power to weight ratios and variable turbo chargers which ensure superior torque characteristics.

The top of the line engine, a 4.2 litre bi-turbo V8 called ‘TDI 350-8′ has a dry weight of only 368 kg. This, in combination with its exceptional performance, enables the engine to make previously used large capacity petrol engines redundant and to offer top performance combined with minimized specific fuel consumption.

At the same time, industry leading builders of large offshore sailing yachts like Oyster, Bénéteau, Jeanneau and Nautor are now installing specially adapted Volkswagen Marine ‘Blue Water Engines’ into long distance cruisers which use only the best of available components.

Exhibited at ‘boot 2010′ are the new luxury sailing yachts Oyster 575 (Hall 16, C58), Jeanneau 57 (Hall 16, B02) and Oceanis 58 (Hall 16, B 42). All of these yachts are powered by the TDI 140-5 ‘Blue Water’ with integrated 24V power generation.

A completely different and so far unique boat type based on Volkswagen Marine Technology has evolved from concept stage into a successful serial production boat since its first presentation at ‘boot 2009′. The hybrid super displacement motor cruiser ‘Greenline 33′ is now re-visiting Duesseldorf in its final configuration and it enters the show with an already thick order book. The Greenline 33, which is available
exclusively with Volkswagen Marine Engines of either 55 kW (75 hp) or 121 kW (165 hp), will be presented in Hall 4, Stand A39.
