Slovak premier visits Volkswagen at Wolfsburg

In the course of his visit to Germany, the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico, visited Volkswagen at Wolfsburg with his delegation on Monday.

Professor Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, and Professor Dr. Jochem Heizmann, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG with responsibility for ’Group Production’, welcomed the guests together with the Chairman of the Board of Volkswagen Slovakia a. s., Dr. Andreas Tostmann. The delegation also included the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in Germany, Ivan Kor?ok, and the Slovak Minister of Economy, Lubomir Jahnátek.

The topics of an exchange of information and opinions also included the economic situation and the activities of Volkswagen at its Slovak facility in Bratislava. ‘As the largest exporter and one of the largest employers in Slovakia, we are well aware of our social responsibility, Dr. Andreas Tostmann stressed. Before traveling on to Hanover, the Prime Minister signed the visitors’ book of Volkswagen AG.

Volkswagen Slovakia is the largest foreign industrial investment in the Slovak Republic. The Touareg, Audi Q7, Škoda Octavia and the body of the Porsche Cayenne are produced at Bratislava. Last year, about 188,000 vehicles and about 360,000 transmissions were produced at Bratislava as well as some 25.1 million components such as baulk rings and flange shafts at the Martin plant. Volkswagen Slovakia has a workforce of more than 7,700.
