Here’s a quick shot of the new Volkswagen Amarok during its scrutineering. The Amarok is making its world debut at the “Dakar”. For the first time the pickup that is manufactured in Argentina will be seen in public. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles provides the four-wheel drive pickup not only to the Volkswagen team. In 2010 the Amarok is the official Support Vehicle of the Dakar Rally and the organiser A.S.O. In addition to its standard off-road capabilities, four of the Amarok from the A.S.O. fleet of 20 vehicles receive additional off-road conversions for the endurance mission at the “Dakar”. While driving the special stages – including desert sand dunes, rough gravel stretches and water passages – special modifications are necessary.
