
The Golf is the car of the year 2010 in South Africa. This was announced yesterday evening at a meeting of the Association of South Africa’s motoring journalists in Johannesburg. The Golf 1.4 TSI (90 kW) Comfortline prevailed against seven other models.
“It is an understatement that we are happy to have won the prize car of the year. We are absolutely thrilled,” said the Managing Director of Volkswagen South Africa, David Powels. “It’s a great honor for Volkswagen, that our world’s primary vehicle was excellent. The Golf remains the benchmark in its class “, continued Powels.
Could enforce the Golf at the South African judges mainly by its standard safety equipment, the effective motor program and its sporty design. The vehicle was also honored as the safest car of 2010.
This prestigious competition in South Africa has a long tradition. Already in 1986, was first elected to the car of the year. In 2003, the Polo TDI was chosen. In 2006, most recently won a car from the Volkswagen Group, the Audi A3 Sportback 2.0T.
From golf world for more than 26 million vehicles were sold – including more than 300,000 in South Africa alone. It is thus the world’s best selling vehicle.
