DTM: Brands Hatch Warm-up

Great to Tomczyk back in an running after his fight with the walls yersterday. Luhr is having a good weekend. Not as fast in qualifying but it could end up being his best showing to date.

DTM rekord champion Bernd Schneider was the fastest driver in warm-up of the DTM at Brands Hatch. The driver from the Saarland lapped the 1.929 kilometers long Indy circuit in the final test session before the fourth season round in 42.233 seconds. Second-placed Martin Tomczyk was only 0.087 seconds slower. Lucas Luhr was third, followed by two times’ Formula 1 world champion, Mika Häkkinen, who will be starting from pole position for this afternoon’s race that will be broadcast live by the ARD from 13.45 h onwards.

On his first lap, points leader, Paul di Resta, drove into the gravel trap at Druids. The Scot couldn’t continue and remained without a timed lap in his warm-up session. The rest of the drivers, from Bernd Schneider on top down to Daniel la Rosa in 19th place, all ranged within 0.728 seconds.

At 13.00 h local time (14.00 h in Germany), the drivers must be top fit. The race at Brands Hatch will require everything from the Audi and Mercedes-Benz drivers, as there is no time to relax for man and machine at the 1.929 kilometres long track.
