
Photo: Quattroworld.comOnce again Audi has shown up at Sebring, testing the next evolution of their LMP entry. However this time it wasn’t such a secret. The first hint was the exif data in the shots from Paul Ricard. Taken in November, the description read “Test Audi R18H”. Changes to the R18H are not so obvious but a lot is going on. The overall appearance seems to be smoothed out. Hard edges are gone, the nose is now piercing and suggestions of the tub structure changing. They were not kidding about this years race being crowded. We could barely squeeze ourselves between the teams pit-areas.

This morning, Audi employees were treated to the sights and stealth like sounds of the Le Mans winning no2 Audi R18 TDI. As the R18 TDI circled around the plant, Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer were in A5 Cabriolets behind “Red Sonja”, waving to the crowd and later signing autographs. After Henri Pescarolo, Jacky Ickx, Michele Alboreto and Tom Kristensen, Benoit Treluyer is only the fifth driver in history to have won the Le Mans 24 Hours from the pole position. For the Frenchman this was the first victory at his home race, as it was for his team colleagues Marcel Fassler and Andre Lotterer. Gallery after the jump!The front row of the grid at the 79th edition of the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans belongs to Audi. In one of the most thrilling qualifying events in recent years the new Audi R18 TDI and the company’s ultra-lightweight technology prevailed. Benoit Treluyer set a time of 3m 25.738s and clinched the top grid position for Audi. His French team-mate Romain Dumas was merely 0.061 seconds slower. Designed for both iPhone and iPad, the free app has a ton of features from your basic race news, updates and positions to circuit overview, videos and more. Augmented reality* is a huge win here. With the devices camera, you point it at the print out (link after jump) and the car comes to life. It is a bit harder on the iPhone due to UI constraints but on the iPad2 it rocks!
