Fifth consecutive best time in qualifying for Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline

After winning the drivers title with Martin Tomczyk the brand with the four rings has decided the DTM qualifying duel in its favor as well. Interview with Audi’s Mattias Ekstrom

Mattias Ekstrom celebrates DTM Nurburgring

You’ve won two races with Audi within the space of one week. Which one of them was more strenuous?

The Spa 24 Hours a week ago was no doubt the more strenuous one. I was really bushed afterward. But I’ve got to say my joy of having won was greater at the DTM at the Nurburgring. Continue reading ‘Interview with Audi’s Mattias Ekstrom’

Presenting the ABT Sportsline Beetle

ABT Sportsline 2012 Beetle

Today, ABT Sportsline dropped the cloth on their Beetle program. Photoshops have been out there and VWVortex had a go at one. As the air-cooled Beetle was an agile fun car, the ABT Sportsline “Speedle” Beetle will live up to that. Power upgrades will be available for the VW TSI and TDI options. The 2.0 L Turbo should see 240 horsepower. Sitting on 19″ ABT CR wheels with a strong visual stance outs it where VW should have, firmly on the pavement. New body work complete the already aggressive styling. Continue reading ‘Presenting the ABT Sportsline Beetle’

Quotes from Audi after qualifying at DTM Norisring

DTM Norisring Audi Motorsport

Mattias Ekstrom was the best Audi driver in qualifying for the DTM race at the Norisring. Quotes from the Audi camp after the battle for thousandths of a second.

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Motorsport)

“Qualifying didn’t go according to our expectations. At the Norisring we’re traditionally having a difficult time – and that was again the case in today’s qualifying although the times were very close together. Small things made the difference and we didn’t manage to get everything perfectly right. ‘Eki’ at least made it into the top four. But the race isn’t until tomorrow. We’ll be giving everything.” Continue reading ‘Quotes from Audi after qualifying at DTM Norisring’

Mattias Ekstrom 4th in qualifying at DTM Norisring

DTM Norisring Audi Ekstrom

Once again, Audi has a tough one ahead of them this weekend at the Norisring. This is their home circuit and they have not won here since 2002. Laurent Aiello was the winner of that race driving the no1 Abt-Audi TT-R.

The weekend started off pretty good for Audi with a 1-2 in the first practice session on Friday. Top three cars in the 48′s. The second test proved to be pretty good with a 4-5-6-7 and all eighteen cars in the 48′s. Wow. Continue reading ‘Mattias Ekstrom 4th in qualifying at DTM Norisring’

DTM : Audi’s perspective as they head to Norisring

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Motorsport)

“The Norisring has always been tough terrain for us in recent years. Although we often came close it never worked out completely. Maybe we’ll be able to use the many good results we’ve scored as tailwind to finally clinch victory at the Norisring – the large crowd of Audi people lining the circuit would certainly be pleased to see that. And we’ll give everything to make it happen.” Continue reading ‘DTM : Audi’s perspective as they head to Norisring’
