Due to the Volkswagen Scirocco running a turbocarged bio gas engine it will get another 30 kilos added.
The first weight list for the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2009 has been released. The weights span from 1200 kilos, the two bio gas Volkswagen Scirocco’s, to 1135, the Peugeot 308. For the first race no penalty weights are applied, only the base weight.
The base weight for all cars have been set to 1170 kilos. The STCC technical bureau, with Johnny Haraldsson as director, then applies certain changes.
The rear wheel driven cars for example remain on 1170 kilos as their base weight while the front wheel driven cars with sequential gearbox gets minus 25 kilos.
The Volvo’s of Robert Dahlgren and Tommy Rustad gets minus six kilos due to the bio ethanol engines of their cars.
The Peugeot 308 of Johan Stureson is the only petrol powered, front wheel driven car with sequential gearbox that has got its weight lowered further. The weight of that car has been set to 1135 kilos, a subject we are going to return to.
