Škoda Auto achieved the highest sales figures in its history in September – with 69,023 vehicles in total, the brand’s sales were 17% higher as compared with the same month of 2008. The key driver behind the new record is the West European market, i.e., the respective dealers in this region.
‘I wish to thank our customers who have bought Škoda vehicles, thus expressing their trust in our products, as well as our dealers who, despite the current economic recession and the highly competitive environment, are doing very well in promoting the Škoda brand and contribute a great deal to our total sales. As a result, September 2009 has become the most successful month in the entire history of the brand,’ said Reinhard Fleger, Škoda Auto BOD Member responsible for sales and marketing.
September deliveries in Western Europe accounted for nearly a half of Škoda’s total sales (36,202 vehicles, i.e., +23.7 % as compared with September 2008). In Germany alone, the brand sold 16,806 vehicles.
The best-selling model was the Škoda Fabia (28,053 vehicles, +31.4 % as compared with September 2008). Another important market that helped significantly in setting the new record was China (14,328 vehicles, i.e., +187.9% as compared with September 2008).
