The SEAT Leon Eurocup season reaches the half-way stage in England

The third meeting of the SEAT León Eurocup is coming up this weekend. After competing on the mythical Brands Hatch circuit, the 2010 race calendar will be half over.

The legendary Brands Hatch venue is one of the most spectacular, technical tracks in the world. Last year it was the stage where the Eurocup drivers delighted their fans with two of the best racing performances of the season. That highly entertaining weekend ended with victories by Norbert Michelisz and Jean Marie Clairet.

This year neither of the two are competing in the Eurocup, but curiously enough, their fellow countrymen are now neck and neck. Hungary’s Gabor Weber and France’s Michael Rossi are the two best drivers this season, with Gabor leading by only one point in the general standings. Both have won a race each and have proven to be the most efficient drivers to date. They are followed by Portugal’s Ricardo Bravo and Ireland’s Eoin Murray with slightly fewer points, but still vying for the championship title.

Getting the right settings will be crucial for drivers competing here, as the track is sloping and has an assortment of curves that require highly technical, skilled driving abilities.

General standings:
1. Gabor Weber, 22 points.
2. Michael Rossi, 21.
3. Ricardo Bravo, 16.
4. Eoin Murray, 15.
5. Lourenço da Veiga, 14.
6. Andrea Larini, 13.
7. Alexander Dudukalo, 12.
8. Tim Coronel, 11.
9. Marcos de Diego, 8.
10. Balint Hatvani, 7.
