
Successful start to title defence: Volkswagen shone with three victories in the opening round of the British Formula 3 Championship at Oulton Park.
In the first race rookie Jean- Eric Vergne (F) scored a lights to flag to victory including fastest lap in his Dallara Volkswagen. In the second race Vergne was fifth after having only started from the fourth row following the allocation of starting positions made by drawing lots. Victory went to his 19-year old Carlin team mate Rupert Svendsen-Cook (GB). In the third race Vergne celebrated his second win and, in doing so, put himself atop the standings by 17 points. Svendsen-Cook was third.
