
As part of the new special exhibition “Ferdinand Porsche – Pioneer of the Hybrid Drive”, the museum at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is presenting a reconstruction of the first workable full-hybrid car in the world, the “Semper Vivus”. By designing this vehicle, the visionary Ferdinand Porsche was entering an entirely new area of technology – 111 years ago. In this vehicle, two generators, connected to petrol engines, form a charging unit which simultaneously provides current to motors at the wheel hub as well as to batteries. Starting today, the Museum of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is opening its Special Exhibition on Gran Turismo Motoring: From 29 June to 25 July 2010 visitors to the Porsche Museum are able to admire the Porsche 911 GT1 (996 model series), the 911 GT2 (997 series), and the 911 GT3 RS (997 series) at this great event. Sixty Years of Porsche Production in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen
The home of today’s Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has a very special sound in the world of motoring: Zuffenhausen. Indeed, Zuffenhausen is far more than ‘just’ a production plant rich in tradition for Porsche AG, since it is here in Zuffenhausen that the heart of the Company beats to this very day. Zuffenhausen has been Porsche’s home address for more than 70 years and more than one million Porsche sports cars have been built here in Stuttgart since 1950. (continue reading…)
We are very excited about this news. The High Museum is in our backyard and for the first time the Type 64 has moved outside of Germany. Called the 1938/39 Type 64 Berlin-Rome was designed and developed for the long-distance race of the same name. This would be the predecessor to the Porsche 356. The High Museum should also have the 1953 Porsche 550 Le Mans/La Carrera Panamerica Coupe on hand.
