Amongst racing customers all over the world, the Porsche 911 GT3 R is extremely popular for its forgiving handling and basic speed. And it is exactly in this direction that the improvements for the 2012 model year have been targeted. The engine output has increased by 20 hp to now deliver 500 hp (368 kW). Paddle-shifts on the steering wheel ensure gear changes are even quicker and simpler, making it easier for pilots to concentrate on braking. Moreover, the transmission electronics, featuring an automatic throttle blip control, make it almost impossible to miss a gear and over-rev the engine. 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 R world premiere at the Racing Car Show Autosport International

Porsche has unleashed its gorgeous new 911 GT3 R to the world. An increase in engine capacity delivers 30hp more to a total of 480hp. A 1,200kg curb weight, new ABS, traction control and e-gas with ‘throttle-blip’ are just a few new additions. Look for the new Porsche 911 GT3 R to debut today at the Racing Car Show Autosport International in Birmingham.

Porsche introduces the new Porsche 911 GT3 R based on the international FIA GT3 regulations

The new Porsche 911 GT3 R will be powered by a four-litre six-cylinder boxer engine besting the old Cup model by 30bhp. With 480bhp pushing 2600+lb, its bound to be a winner. We will see the official debut in January at the Birmingham Motor Show. Few more pics after the jump.

Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is entering yet another racing car in the 2010 motorsport season: The 911 GT3 R will be raced in series based on the international FIA GT3 regulations, thus succeeding the 911 GT3 Cup S.
