The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix has this year again attracted the world’s best women tennis players to Stuttgart. Top stars like seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams and Kim Clijsters will be competing in the Porsche Arena from 24 April to 2 May for 700,000 dollars prize money and the new Porsche Boxster Spyder. When it comes to acronyms Porsche is probably the only car company in the world that could compete with the US Army when it comes to their use. 993C4S receives emails on an almost daily basis asking for information/help on one Porsche acronym/system or another. Instead of continuing to answer each email as a one-off they decided to create a post (with the help of Porsche’s technology micro-site) that outlines the most common acronyms. Where possible they gave a link for more information and in most cases the link will have a video further explaining Porsche’s technology.

This conclusion was drawn from the results of the most recent public opinion survey, the ‘Vehicle Dependability Study’, conducted by the US market research company J.D. Power and announced yesterday. The technical journal ‘Automotive Engineering International’ (AEI) published in the USA has honoured the VarioCam Plus technology applied in the 911 GT2 and 911 Turbo with the ‘AEI Tech 2001 Award’ within the framework of a readers survey. The readers of the internationally renowned journal regard VarioCam Plus as one of the most outstanding technical innovations which have been presented at the ‘SAE-Congress’ (Society of automotive engineering) in Detroit in March. Approximately 1000 engineers and technicians of the international automobile industry meet there annually to keep themselves informed about the latest technical developments in their field. Lower consumption and emissions combine with higher driving dynamics
Volkswagen’s TSI engines have been awarded the environmental commendation certified by TÜV Nord, following in the footsteps of the dual-clutch transmission DSG. The Life Cycle Assessment on which the commendation is based confirms that the TSI engines have significantly improved environmental characteristics compared with the predecessor models throughout their life cycle thanks to their smaller engine size and lower fuel consumption – while at the same time evidencing higher driving dynamics. Volkswagen of America, Inc. today reported February 2010 sales of 18,116 total units, representing a 32.6 percent increase over February 2009.
