There were no surprises during the qualifying session at the Brno circuit. As expected, the SEAT Sport drivers were not able to shine in qualifying as they did in the previous race held in Valencia. The strong drops and turns with large support are not favourable for the SEAT León TDI. Consequently, the best drivers of the team were Rickard Rydell and Gabriele Tarquini on 5th and 6th position.
After difficult free sessions, marked by rain and a drying track, the first qualifying session witnessed the dominance of BMW. A final effort allowed Gabriele Tarquini and Rickard Rydell getting access to the decisive Q2, while the rest of their team mates finished just behind the top ten, with Monteiro 11th, Gené 12th and Muller 13th.
In the decisive session, all drivers made one single quick lap in order to save their tyres and the SEAT drivers were able to clock the 5th and 6th fastest times, with Rydell ahead of Tarquini. Among the privateers, Tom Coronel was the fastest on 16th position, while his brother Tim, who is taking part in this race as a prize for his victory in the first SEAT León Eurocup event, was 20th.
