Hankook backs Volkswagen Racing Cup in 2009

Hankook will once again be title sponsor of the Volkswagen Racing Cup in 2009. It will be the fourth consecutive season that the Korean-based tyre giant – one of the world’s fastest-growing manufacturers – has supported the championship.

Hankook will supply slick and wet-weather tyres to all competitors, which, says Melissa Wright of Volkswagen Racing UK, will delight them: ‘Hankook tyres are extremely popular with the drivers because not only are they excellent value but also they perform brilliantly on the track. Hankook’s paddock support is second to none and their enthusiasm for the Volkswagen Racing Cup is superb. We are very much looking forward to working with Hankook again.’

Hankook motorsport manager Mike Patterson added: ‘We are delighted to be supporting the Volkswagen Racing Cup once again. It is a superb championship and a great showcase for our tyres.’

Hankook is the seventh largest tyre manufacturer and supplies original equipment to many European motor manufacturers. The firm’s involvement with motorsport in all its forms is global too, ranging from British club motorsport and rallying to Formula 3 in Germany and sports cars in China, Japan and worldwide.

The Volkswagen Racing Cup will again feature as the sole regular saloon-car support event to the prestigious British GT and F3 Championships in 2009; the schedule of its seven double-header race weekends will be announced shortly.

The Volkswagen Racing Cup in association with Hankook is additionally supported by Augustus Martin, Castrol, Ceva Logistics, ECM Vehicle Delivery, Milltek Sport, Mondial Assistance, KW Automotive, Superchips, Turbo Dynamics, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Volkswagen Financial Services UK.
