
The drivers of a Volkswagen Polo S2000 set the fastest time on six of the 16 special stages and in the end had a roughly 30-second advantage of the runners-up,.the Toyota pairing Gemmell/Archenoul. Jan Habig and Volkswagen “Dakar” factory co-driver Ralph Pitchford who also ran in a Polo S2000, completed the good outcome for Volkswagen with a third-place finish.
