DTM: New weight and pit-stop time-frame regulations

Upon request of the manufacturers, the DTM commission has agreed to reduce the basic weights of the 2006 and 2007-spec cars by ten kilos each. From the Zandvoort round, the basic weight of the 2006-spec Audi A4 DTM amounts to 1,020kg while the basic weight of the 2007-spec cars of Audi and Mercedes-Benz was defined to be 1,030kg, from now on. Furthermore, the two car generations will be merged and scored jointly, in the future, when it comes to the allocation of the success-related additional weights.

Furthermore, the pit-stop time frame was extended for the final six rounds of the season. With immediate effect, the cars may come in for the first obligatory stop right after the first fourth of the race has been completed. Both pit stops must have been executed at the end of the third fourth of the race. In the sixth round held at Zandvoort, Netherlands – a 39-lap race – the pit-lane consequently will be open for the obligatory stops from lap ten up to and including lap 29.

Current weights for the Zandvoort round:
Audi A4 DTM 2008: 1,045kg
AMG Mercedes C-Class 2008: 1,055kg
Audi A4 DTM 2007: 1,045kg
AMG Mercedes C-Class 2007: 1,040kg
Audi A4 DTM 2006: 1,010kg
