ALMS Petit Le Mans went down under the sun and quite warm. Temps were around 86°F with humidity hitting 63%. The session came down to the diesel battle but the #66 Acura ARX-02a came very close to the 4th place Audi R15 TDI with a 1:08.348.
In the diesel battle, Minassian topped the charts with a 1:06.937. Folloing right behind was the sister Peugeot driven by Montagny at the wheel. He went 1:07.160.
The two Audi’s finished 3-4 roughly a second off. We have seen Capello in the 1:07′s so the Audi can run with the Peugeots. However, a ten hours race is a ten hour race and anything can go down.

Now for one of the biggest upsets, a Ford GT-R is on pole! The top of the grid is almost like a coin toss in SPEED WC. David Murry set the Ford GT-R on pole with a blistering 1:20.819. Following very close behind, Tom Sutherland pulled the non-factory Corvette into second with a 1:20.877.
The #45 Flying Lizard ended up 6th with a 1:21.299, #87 Farnbacher Loles 9th at 1:21.60. The Rizi Ferrari is pinched between the #87 and that of the Falken Tire crew.
So we started this report with Sun and heat. Unfortunately, we have to end it with the chance of rain. There is another flash flood warning through Saturday night. 10pm tonight is showing a 100% chance, drops out early morning and back to 30% at 10am Saturday. It stays above 50% from 2pm til 10pm. After our Flood of 2009, the past three days have been beautiful. Hot but beautiful.
Do your rain dance.
