Great news! Our bud, Craig Stanton has joined up with Aasco Performance again and will compete in the Speed World Challenge this weekend at Long Beach.

The driver with the shortest commute for next weekend’s ACS World Challenge Grand Prix of Long Beach Presented by Lala Motorsports will be Craig Stanton. Driving all the way from Belmont Shores, Stanton will wheel a Porsche 997 GT3 in the World Challenge GT race during this weekend’s Grand Prix.

While this will be Stanton’s first start in World Challenge, he is one of America’s best-known sportscar drivers, with championships in the Rolex Sportscar Series and Koni Challenge, as well as wins in the American LeMans Series. Most of Stanton’s racing success has come behind the wheel of a Porsche.
Stanton’s car will be entered by longtime Porsche racing team Aasco Performance, located in nearby Anaheim, Calif. Stanton and Aasco Motorsports have competed together before in the Rolex Sports Car Series. Stanton is also no stranger to the Long Beach Grand Prix, having competed in another Porsche in last year’s American LeMans Series race in the GT2 class.
‘I can’t express how excited I am to compete in the Long Beach Grand Prix,’ said Stanton from his home in Long Beach. ‘I have a long history with Aasco Performance – these are great guys that always put together great racing programs. And you can’t beat competing at the Long Beach Grand Prix. Long Beach has been my home for a long time and it will be a thrill to get to race in front of the home crowd again, with lots of friends and family in attendance.’
‘This is a great thing for us to be able to race with each other again,’ remarked Randy Aase of Assco Motorsports. ‘Craig is a very intelligent driver, and with the unique situation of the Long Beach Grand Prix, we are thrilled that he will be driving one of our Porsches.’
Stanton will hit the track in his Aasco Motorsports Porsche Friday and Saturday afternoon for practice, before World Challenge GT qualifying Sunday morning and the race on Sunday afternoon at 4:15.
Stanton’s car will be supported by Aasco Motorsports, Stuttgart Performance, Max International, and Performance Drink.
