Lamborghini All-Wheel-Drive Racing Hits Autosport International

The World’s Fastest One-Make Series; that’s the exciting, bold truth about the new Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race series. With the first race taking place on UK soil at Silverstone in May, racing fans and prospective drivers will get an exclusive UK-preview of the series at Autosport International, held on 8-11 January at the NEC, Birmingham.

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo is a new concept in racing; pitching up to 30 identical 570-horsepower, four-wheel drive Gallardos, a world’s first, against each other on some of Europe’s best-known circuits including Spa-Francorchamps and Paul Ricard. The series will support prestigious racing championships like the FIA GT Championship and DTM, running over six weekends during the year.

Lamborghini Brand Director Manfred Fitzgerald said: “The Super Trofeo is definitely going to be something very special in the world of motorsport, combining speed with exclusivity. As the world’s fastest one-make series, we will be aiming to put on a memorable show, and we are delighted that people will be able to see our car first at Autosport International, where the 2009 racing season really begins.”

The car recently tested at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy, confirming all of its pre-season potential. Combining dramatic looks with stunning performance, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo is designed to appeal to both professional and gentlemen drivers alike. At the heart of the Super Trofeo concept is the LamborghiniVillage: a home-from-home hospitality centre at each circuit.

“Sportscar and endurance racing is going through an extremely exciting period, and as one-make series have long been a stepping-stone for aspiring drivers, another path to the top of the sport is always welcome,” said Haymarket Exhibitions Show Director Ian France. “The 2009 show is going to be a bumper one for new series, not just the Super Trofeo, but also the KTM X-Bow Super Sport Cup, Striker Challenge and ORECA’s Formula Le Mans.”
