Lamborghini Super Trofeo series back for 2011

Following two successful seasons, the ultra-competitive Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo will return to the track for the start of the 2011 season. A field consisting solely of the iconic Italian marque’s Super Trofeo race cars will do battle in the season opener at Monza, Italy, on 16-17 April.

With six race meetings across a selection of the most demanding circuits in Europe, including Spa-Francorchamps and Paul Ricard HTTT, the series will see a grid of both professional and ‘gentlemen’ drivers take to the track behind the wheel of a Super Trofeo race car, a lightweight version of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4. The 2011 calendar for Lamborghini’s one-make series, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, has been confirmed. The series will visit circuits across Europe in 2011 as professional and gentleman drivers compete for Lamborghini honours at the wheel of 570hp V10 Lamborghini Super Trofeo race cars. In the searing Hungarian heat, Peter Kox and Marc A. Hayek returned to race-winning form at the penultimate 2010 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race weekend at the Hungaroring on 21-22 August 2010. The Blancpain Reiter Engineering duo secured victories in both rounds 14 and 15 to close the gap between them and their title rivals in the Pro and Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings. Super Trofeo: Competition intensifies at Spa-Francorchamps

Black Bull Swiss Racing drivers Mirko Venturi and Tommaso Maino came out on top

As the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo enters the second half of its season, the on-track battles have become even more intense, and this was clearly demonstrated at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on 29-31 July 2010. Black Bull Swiss Racing drivers Mirko Venturi and Tommaso Maino came out on top, securing two victories and enough points to put the team tied top of the Teams’ Standings.

Black Bull Swiss Racing secured its first victory in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series at Spa-Francorchamps on 30 July 2010. From second on the grid Italian Tommaso Maino put in a strong drive, handing the 570 hp #46 Super Trofeo race car over to team-mate Mirko Venturi in third place. Venturi then charged after race leader Luigi Moccia in the #22 MIK Corse race car, reeling in what was a 13 second gap each lap. 3 wins for MIK Corse at Paul Ricard HTTT

Italian team MIK Corse secured all three victories in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series at Paul Ricard HTTT, France, on 3-4 July 2010. Drivers Fabio Babini and Albert von Thurn und Taxis guided the team’s #22 Super Trofeo race car around the French circuit to claim 45 points, elevating MIK Corse from fourth to second in the Teams’ Standings.
