Just a month before the world debut at Geneva Motor Show of its V12 replacement for the Murciélago, Automobili Lamborghini is presenting at the 2011 Qatar Motor Show a highly exclusive and appealing vehicle making its world premiere: the Gallardo LP 560-4 Bicolore, a Special Edition supersports car which will be produced for the European and Asian-Pacific markets, while for the American market it will be only available in the version LP 550-2. As its name implies, this special series features an exclusive two-tone finish with matching interior, and offers a full range of standard equipment. A refined contrast between the black roof and the color of the rest of the body (available in a choice of five shades) further emphasizes the sharp, dynamic lines of the Gallardo LP 560-4, while simultaneously enhancing its sportiness and adding a touch of elegance to an extremely prestigious model in the field of automotive design.

The most successful super sports car in Lamborghini’s history captures the imagination with the brutal power of its 560 hp V10 engine, the absolute grip of its permanent all-wheel drive and the razor-sharp precision of its chassis. Every kilometer in the Lamborghini Gallardo is an intense experience of explosive dynamics and absolute control. Its breathtaking performance is indicated by the 3.7 seconds it takes to reach 100 km/h and its top speed of 325 km/h.

Even more extreme, thanks to a personalized appearance

With its new Bicolore model, Lamborghini is now setting a further design highlight in the ten-cylinder model series. The colored exterior finish matched with the black on the upper area of the body gives the Gallardo a new, more aggressive personality that looks even wider, even more extreme and innately adhered to the road.

From the window-line upwards (including pillars, roof, engine hood and rear spoiler), the vehicle is decorated in Noctis Black – a pastel black that contrasts perfectly with the lower area of the body, available in a choice of five colors: Giallo Midas, Arancio Borealis, Grigio Telesto, Bianco Monocerus and Blu Caelum.

The exterior appearance is enhanced by Skorpius aluminum-alloy rims with 15 thin spokes that are forged to minimize unsprung weight and are finished in titanium gray enamel. And, the air intakes and front spoiler have a high-gloss black finish, as does the upper section of the rear diffuser.

Top-quality and highly individual interior

The contrast between black and color is repeated in an understated, elegant manner in the interior of the Gallardo LP 560-4 Bicolore. The instrument panel, seats, door panels and other elements in the passenger compartment are upholstered in the finest “Nero Persus” leather, with a refined contrast provided by precise stitching that is colored to match the exterior paintwork: yellow, orange, blue and gray (also used on the Bianco Monocerus version).

The bezel of the e-gear transmission on the center console is in Nero Noctis, just like the upper area of the vehicle. Obviously, the interior is finished in the Lamborghini tradition using only the materials of the very highest quality, which are crafted with undisputed professionalism and fine Italian workmanship.

V10 like a work of art in a glass display

The complete range of standard equipment includes the fast e-gear automated transmission controlled by paddles on the steering column. A lifting system enables the front axle to be raised for safer travel onto ramps and over humps in the road, and the engine hood in tempered glass provides a stunning view of the heart of the vehicle: a 5.2 liter, 90° V-10 engine with stratified direct injection.

From a satellite navigation system to a rear-view camera, from a brake system with carbon-ceramic discs to heated power seats, a long list of optional equipment and accessories allows the vehicle to be adapted to the personal requirements of any client.

Well over 10,000 Gallardos have left the production facility at company headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese – a unique success story in the world of super sports cars. The Bicolore Special Edition is particularly intended for the enthusiast who desires a supercar with an exclusive appearance and remarkable design. In any event, he or she will own a Lamborghini that is altogether distinguished by an extremely dynamic character, maximum driving excitement, yet an ability to be driven daily.

Individual characters in one model range

The Gallardo Bicolore completes Lamborghini’s ten-cylinder model range, which is enjoying enormous resonance worldwide with its broad spectrum of individual characters. While the Gallardo LP 560-4 is already a highly trained, extreme athlete, the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera takes the notion of thoroughbred high performance even further. Yes this LP560-4 Coupe did start off white! The crew at FibraFoil in Dubai created a stunning piece of art from it. If it reminds you of a Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, you’d be correct. FabraFoil used that exact jet as inspiration for this project and we may even see it at next years Gumball 3000 Rally across Europe.

Rumors have been circulating around that we could see a successors to the Gallardo family come March. While some are saying an increase of 10hp, new suspension work and exterior design modifications will be the highlights, we hope to see a bit more. Customers could see theirs by next May. On top of that, a LP590-2 SV could be net in 2011.

Back in 2007 Automobili Lamborghini SpA unveiled a rather special Gallardo in Geneva, the Superleggera, a race bred version of the well known V10 model that shed some weight and became an instant success. It was only available in a small selection of colors and it was rather sparsely finished on the inside, however the full carbon fiber door panels and Alcantara loops instead of handles to close the doors were highly welcomed … in total the Superleggera lost 100 Kg in the process and gained 10 Bhp.

This resulted in a car that handled totally different compared to the regular Gallardo 5.2 model, and with the purpose build high rear wing it looked as fast as it would go … sadly when the LP560-4 took over the Superleggera production was halted.

However rumors have been going around lately that we might see a successor to this very special Gallardo as soon as March 2010 in Geneva, it has even received a name : the Gallardo LP570-4 Super Veloce … in style with the Murciélago flagship, the LP670-4 Super Veloce we’ve discovered in Geneva early this year.

When I come to think about it, it could very well be true, the Gallardo line isn’t at it’s end yet, I’m sure it will stay in production for at least two more years, hence an extension to the line up with a hard core Super Veloce version would bring new life into the ‘Baby Lamborghini’ production and boost sales back to higher levels after the set back of the economic crisis we are currently slowly recovering from.

Take a look at the renderings on this page, you can clearly recognize the Gallardo style, but with a massive rear wing similar to the Murciélago Super Veloce, a carbon fiber roof, engine cover, lower side sills and exterior rear view mirrors combined with a totally re-styled front spoiler, the new Gallardo SV could again drop some weight and with a small boost of power to 570 Bhp it would mean this next evolution in the Gallardo breed could offer performance close to the Murciélago flagship, perhaps even exceeding it as it is much lighter than it’s big brother from Sant’Agata.

Naturally nothing official has been published about all this, but it would be really nice to be able to welcome yet another evolution of the Gallardo, the LP550-2 Valentino Balboni is a limited edition, and a successor to this rear wheel drive version wouldn’t be a bad idea either … perhaps an LP570-2 Super Veloce ?

We’ll have to wait and see what Automobili Lamborghini SpA will show us in Geneva, but I’m sure that selected VIP’s and dealers will receive a preview of things to come much earlier, perhaps even next January … if they do unveil a Gallardo Super Veloce in Geneva I’m confident that the first customer cars could be on the road as early as May or June 2010.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder has been awarded German magazine Auto Bild’s Sports Car Of The Year 2009 title, in the Cabriolets/Roadster Series category.

The award was presented yesterday evening by the jury of the monthly magazine, at a special awards ceremony during the Essen Motor Show. With eight classes divided into tuned and series production cars, the Sports Car Of The Year title is one of the most desired in the German automotive business, with the awards voted for by 51,637 Auto Bild SportsCar readers.

The new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder, with 560 hp and permanent four-wheel drive, offers an extraordinary driving experience: powerful and elegant design, extraordinary performance and extreme driving dynamics, alongside the emotional intensity of a convertible car. Atlanta police say platinum-selling rapper Fabolous, whose real name in John Jackson, may have crucial information involving the theft of a rare sports car taken from the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead.

Channel 2 Action News consumer investigator Jim Strickland, who first broke the story last year, obtained surveillance video from the Intercontinental showing how the 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, one of only two brought in the United States, was taken.

‘The bellman gave the keys to the wrong person. It was a mistake,’ said John Jackson, an attorney representing Eric Vargosko, the car’s rightful owner.
Vargosko said he learned that his car was missing from the hotel’s valet lot when it came time to check out.

Sources confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that around 5 a.m. on Jan. 31, rapper Fabolous and his entourage left the Intercontinental.

Two men from the rapper’s entourage went to the bellman, got keys to the Lamborghini and climbed into the car as if it was their own. Fabolous was not part of that crew.
The men soon drove off, and the rest of the group followed behind in a minivan.
‘I would wonder how many crimes go unpunished when there’s a surveillance video that shows what happened,’ said Jackson.

Strickland obtained an e-mail from a police detective who confirmed that the rapper knows the men who drove off in the car.

But Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard would not sign off on a subpoena to the grand jury to force Fabolous to name names. The detective said there are no other leads.

‘It makes me feel like Eric’s not going to get justice,’ Jackson said.
Vargosko is suing the hotel in federal court.

‘I did nothing wrong … and to be forced to hire an attorney, it’s just wrong,’ said Vargosko.

Paul Howard issued a statement saying police had promised immunity in exchange for help finding the car.

The statement said, in part, ‘I believe the integrity of the promise was more important than pursuing suspects.’

Strickland reached out to the hotel’s lawyer and the publicist from Fabolous.

‘The InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta has accepted responsibility for this unfortunate incident from its inception and has always been willing to provide fair and reasonable compensation for the damages caused to the vehicle by the incident,’ said Caroline Counihan in a statement to Channel 2. ‘We hold the safety, comfort and well-being of our guests and employees as our top priority and concern. We have taken several measures, including heightening security, so that a repeat of this incident does not happen.’

The rapper’s publicist never responded.

Reiter Engineering has tested its new Lamborghini LP560 GT3 for the first time in public and the car promises to be more efficient than its victorious predecessor: More power, improved suspension geometry, refined and optimised aerodynamics and a reduction in weight are key factors for the performance increase. In addition the car scores with an innovative 2-in-1 concept.

The new car is based on the production Lamborghini LP560-4. The Reiter LP560 GT3 is equipped with a completely new and more powerful 5.2 litre V10 engine producing 570 PS (419.2 kW) at 8,000 rpm. It also develops significantly more torque than its predecessor, namely 540 Nm at 6,500 rpm. An EFI Euro 12 ECU performs the engine management.

With its new car Reiter Engineering is aiming to continue the winning ways of its GT3 model series. To date a total of 49 examples have been sold to a worldwide customer base. And with success: In addition to numerous race victories a Reiter Gallardo GT3 currently holds the overall lead in the French FFSA GT3 and Asian GT3 championships. It has collected a brace of team titles (ADAC GT Masters), three championship titles (Australian GT, FFSA GT, Italian GT) and two championship runner-up positions (ADAC GT Masters, FFSA GT) have all been credited to the Reiter designed and developed Lamborghini racer over the last few years. However, the talk cannot just be of matching previous successes, since the new Lamborghini GT3 is clearly far superior in many aspects than its predecessor, states Team Boss Hans Reiter.

The car weighs-in at an impressive 1,190 kg and, as a result, numbers among the lightweights in the GT3 class. The reason for this is its unique light-weight design aluminium spaceframe-structure, which allows the chassis to be considerably lighter and extremely rigid torsionally. The front and rear bodywork and the sills are also manufactured from lightweight carbon-fibre.

The aerodynamic concept follows the high-downforce philosophy of the predecessor. A combination of the carbon rear wing, front splitter and the completely closed aluminium-honeycomb underfloor generate the downforce required. The aerodynamic could be improved by 8 percent compared to its predecessor.

According to comments by chief engineer Edward Turner the new GT3 suspension concept is based on its big brother the Reiter Murciélago R-GT which has proven its competitiveness in recent seasons. CNC machined uprights, fabricated race wishbones, an 24-hour race braking system and the multi-adjustable race suspension specially developed for the GT3 car underline this and are the foundation for the improved suspension geometry. The state-of-the-art mid-engine concept gives the car excellent handling and forms the base for the perfect front to rear weight distribution of 43-57 percent.

Equipped with 270/650-18 (front) and 310/710-18 (rear) tyres means Reiter Engineering has been able to exploit the maximum tyre dimension on the rear axle which in turn improves the grip compared to the forerunner GT3 and, more specifically, allows significantly more constant lap times.

As usual a Holinger race gearbox ensures excellent power transmission. An Evo-gearbox enabled gear-shift times to be reduced by half. In addition, the fully programmable, electronic power management system (OBR) is another technical innovation that eases handling and maintenance.

A genuine motorsport innovation and interesting added value for GT3 customers: During the concept and design phase the development team produced the Reiter Convertible Concept (REITER CC/32). It allows the GT3 car, available for 265,000 euros net, to be converted to a full-spec GT2 race car cost-efficiently in an After Sales Solution for approx 30,000 euros net. In this way customers receive a Reiter LP560 GT3 race car which can start worldwide in the GT3 classes and also in the GT2 categories including the LM GT2 class. Orders for three cars have already been placed. In September Lamborghini and GT3 customers have the opportunity to test the Reiter Lamborghini LP560 GT3.
