As summer winds down, Team Falken is ramping up as it crosses the border into Canada to visit historic Mosport for Round 8 of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron, which begins this weekend (August 27-29). Mosport is the only Canadian stop for the ALMS series and is among the fastest tracks visited. Team Falken will again set out to qualify and finish well in the GT class.
“When Falken Tire decided to enter ALMS racing and run all season long, we chose the class that has been the most competitive,” stated Rod Everett, Falken Team Manager. “We wanted to go up against the other factory teams as well as leading privateers. As the season comes to a close, all of us at Team Falken would prefer to be closer to the top of the standings, but I am very proud of what we’ve accomplished this season, including some of the hurdles we’ve overcome, thanks to the efforts of our drivers, Wolf Henzler and Bryan Sellers, our crew, our workhorse, this great Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, and all of the Falken employees and retailers. They’ve been right there throughout the year.”
“I can only second what Rod has said,” added Andrew Hoit, Falken Director of Marketing. “Becoming a part of the ALMS series was a huge step for Falken and it has paid multiple dividends in terms of exposure and allowing us to utilize these events and locations for hospitality and to meet with our retailers, customers and Falken enthusiasts. Our race program remains an integral part of Falken’s overall marketing and sales campaigns.”
At Mosport, the Porsche will compete on specially prepared Falken AZENIS RT Slicks and race on the classic circuit in the two-hour, 45-minute event on Sunday, August 29. Qualifying is set for Saturday, August 28.
Both Henzler and Sellers have stated they are looking forward to competing at Mosport, because it is a fast track, which they feel will be an advantage for them in both qualifying and during the race. “The Porsche is quite strong and the course demanding, which makes it both challenging and fun,” said Sellers. “I think we’ll do well.”
Mosport, located a short distance outside Toronto, is Canada’s first permanent road racing facility, and has played host to Formula 1, IndyCar, Can-Am and endurance races for many years. The venue is the last race of three during the month of August. Teams will use the next four weeks to prepare for the season finale, the 13th Annual Petit Le Mans, at Road Atlanta, September 29-October 2.
The Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport will run live on SPEED, August 29, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time.
