R-Line equipment is already offered on seven Volkswagen models. Now the Passat CC is getting a sportier touch. Orders are now being taken for the four-door coupé with R-Line package.
On its exterior, 17-inch (optional 18-inch) R-Line ‘Mallory’ alloy wheels with 235/45 tyres lend a sporty touch to the Passat CC R-Line. The front spoiler and side skirts, each painted in body colour, were also re-styled. In addition, R-Line logos embellish the front side sections; the rear lights are smoked. Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced today that the stylish CC, which was designed and engineered to blend sports car dynamics and dimensions with sedan comfort and functionality, has received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) TOP SAFETY PICK award for 2009. A TOP SAFETY PICK is the highest rating possible from the non-profit research organization. The annual award recognizes vehicles that perform best in protecting passengers in the Institute’s front, side and rear crash test evaluations.
New ‘BUS’ Character Voiced by Thomas Haden Church Discusses Fuel Efficiency, Safety and Low Cost
Volkswagen of America, Inc. today kicks off the latest installment of its DAS AUTO brand campaign, this time with a collection of 30-second TV spots entitled ‘Meet the Volkswagens.’ The new spots again feature Max the Beetle but also introduce a brand new character named BUS. Voiced by actor Thomas Haden Church, BUS is a talking ruby red 1963 Volkswagen Micro Bus who draws upon Volkswagen’s tradition and heritage while creating clever vignettes that make subtle competitive comparisons in order to highlight key messages like mileage, fuel efficiency, cost of ownership and safety. The campaign will run for 8 weeks and will be supported online and at dealerships nationwide. A first for Volkswagen, the TV spots will direct viewers to Facebook where they will experience information and messaging surrounding the campaign and other brand initiatives.
Volkswagen is expanding its range of extremely fuel efficient, clean and economical models with great vigor. Making world premieres at the Geneva Motor Show 2009 (March 5 to 15) are the Polo BlueMotion concept car, the new Golf BlueMotion, the next Golf Plus BlueMotion, the exclusive Passat CC BlueTDI Individual and the natural gas powered Touran TSI EcoFuel.

ADAC readers also vote the Scirocco and the Passat CC into the top 5 Wolfsburg, 15 January 2009 – Today the ADAC awarded the ‘Yellow Angels 2009′ in Munich. Right at the top in the eyes of the audience: Volkswagen. Europe’s most successful carmaker was able to place itself under the top 5 with a total of three vehicles.
The Volkswagen Jetta TDI Sportwagen and Volkswagen CC makes this years list. Josee Valcourt (NY Editor) placed the Subaru WRX on top of the Volkswagen GTI, his pick last year, due to its AWD. That is the only reason!
