Rally dos Sertões 2008
Great news from Volkswagen Motorsport! We had a good time watching the guys compete and win. There were 5 Mitsubishi L200’s in the Top 10 but the Race Touareg 2 is an incredible machine but lets not leave out the driver teams of Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz and Mark Miller/Ralph Pitchford.

Both Volkswagen Race Touaregs maintain front positions
Seventh leg, seventh stage victory: U.S. Volkswagen factory driver Mark Miller and his South African co-driver Ralph Pitchford claimed their second stage victory at the Rallye dos Sertões.

For the German automobile manufacturer, this marked the seventh stage victory on the so far seven legs of the cross-country rally through Brazil. On the 462-kilometre route between Balsas and Floriano, the second factory duo Giniel de Villers/Dirk von Zitzewitz, which got stuck in the mud for a short time, finished in second place. The South African-German pairing that has a tally of five individual exploits and the win of the prologue, continues heading the overall standings with a lead of more than nine minutes over Miller/Pitchford. Volkswagen drivers successfully tackle demanding terrain

On the third leg of the Rally dos Sertões in Brazil Volkswagen further extended its one-two lead.
The South African Giniel de Villiers and his German co-driver Dirk von Zitzewitz in the Race Touareg clinched victory on the rally’s third leg as well. The American Mark Miller and his South African co-driver Ralph Pitchford in the second Race Touareg finished the 415-kilometre stage from Aruanã to Niquelandia in the north of the country in second place. Since the spectators stage on Tuesday, de Villiers/von Zitzewitz have had the overall lead, twelve minutes ahead of their team-mates Miller/Pitchford. The first running of the Volkswagen Polo entered in the Czech Circuit Championship by Charouz Racing System ended with a commanding victory.
At the third round of the international series at Most, Antonin Blazek clearly dominated the class up to 1,400 cubic centimetres. When he crossed the finish line, the young native of Prague, who celebrated his 18th birthday on the day of the race, had almost a half-minute lead over his immediate rival. The Racing Polo powered by a 195-hp 1.4-litre engine delivered a convincing, flawless début showing.
