Volkswagen Group Recruiting Some 6,000 University Graduates and Apprentices Worldwide in 2010

Total number of apprentices reaches 10,000 for first time this year

This year, the Volkswagen Group will be recruiting 3,000 university graduates worldwide, of which one third will be hired in Germany. In addition, 2,900 young people will begin their vocational training with the Group during the current year. The total number of apprentices will top the 10,000 mark for the first time this year. Autostadt 2010: 20 Million Visitors in Ten Years

This year the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, which was opened on the 1st of June 2000, celebrates its tenth anniversary. Right at the outset of this celebratory year a new record was reached: on Thursday the 25th of February 2010 more than 20 million visitors had passed through the Autostadt gates. Instead of honouring the 20 millionth individual guest, the Autostadt decided to donate Euro 20 000 to the relief operation founded by the board of the Volkswagen Group together with the Montfort Missionaries for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Volkswagen increases energy efficiency in offices worldwide

New infrastructure saves the annual energy requirement of 1,400 households

The Volkswagen Group saves around 9.26 million kilowatt hours per year following the reorganization of its office equipment infrastructure. The project started in 2005 and came into full effect for the first time last year. The company thereby reduces its energy requirements in this area by 86 percent as compared to 2005. The savings achieved are equivalent to the annual energy requirement of around 1,400 households. This was announced on Friday by the Head of Group IT at Volkswagen, Klaus Hardy Mühleck, at the CeBIT 2010 in Hanover. (continue reading…)

Volkswagen Group starts 2010 with strong rise in deliveries

  • Group deliveries grow 41.3 percent in January
  • Volkswagen core brand up by 46.2 percent
  • Group Board Member for Sales Klingler: ‘Successful start, but expect year to be very difficult’

Wolfsburg, 12 February 2010 – The Volkswagen Group started 2010 with robust unit sales growth, delivering 538,500 vehicles to customers in January (January 2009: 381,100; +41.3 percent)*. Compared with the overall world market (+22.3 percent), the Group therefore holds a significant edge over its competitors. One of the main reasons for the good performance is the young and environmentally-friendly model range. The low level of deliveries in the weak month of January 2009 was also a contributory factor in the strong rise. (continue reading…)

Volkswagen Group reports 19.1 percent growth in deliveries in November

  • 2.0 percent cumulative rise in deliveries to November
  • Volkswagen brand records 25.8 percent growth
  • Audi, Škoda and SEAT also report positive development
  • Slight rise in full year deliveries expected

The Volkswagen Group reported its strongest growth in global vehicles deliveries so far this year in November. An increase of 19.1 percent to 531,300 (November 2008: 446,000)* vehicles again surpassed the positive trend of previous months. In the first eleven months of this year, 5.85 (January-November 2008: 5.73; +2.0 percent)** million vehicles were delivered to customers. Volkswagen Supervisory Board lays foundation for car manufacture at Karmann site in Osnabrück

At its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft approved the acquisition of land, machinery and equipment formerly belonging to the Karmann holding company at the Osnabrück site. Furthermore, during the coming weeks it is also planned to establish a new Volkswagen car manufacturing subsidiary and later start a new vehicle project. Volkswagen Group invests in Brazilian growth market

  • 2.3 billion euros for plant expansion and new products
  • Delivery target by 2014: one million vehicles per year
