APS upgrades Volkswagen Golf R to 300HP

We have yet to receive any info on the Golf R coming to North America but just imagine when APR gets a hold of one. Utilizing Sportec’s Stage 1 ECU upgrade, UK’s APS takes the standard Golf R 2.0l pushing 267hp/258tq to a mad 300hp/321tq. This results in a stock 0-62 in 5.7sec to a modified 5.3sec.

Would you sell your kidneys for a Volkswagen Golf R?

AskaVWsalesguy would. Check out his latest YouTube video for some wicked Golf R footage and tongue-in-cheek commentary. Enthusiast definitely want the Golf R shipped over the pond but as always VW will be late to the STI/Evo/Ford party.

North American premiere of the Volkswagen Golf R happened at the Montreal International Auto Show

Volkswagen Golf R introduction

Yes, happened and it looks like a bunch of us have missed this. The Montreal International Auto Show kicked off on the 15th and Volkswagen has brought the new Golf R to show it off. They say it was to gauge public reaction and solicit feedback. Do they not search the internet? North America is due for their next “R” version and why show it off in secrecy. Detroit had a great showing from VW and maybe it would be too much but the Golf R is already on sale in Germany. We are not getting the Scirocco. So why not just announce it, make it limited if anything and move forward. By that time, the Golf R might still be relevant in a sea of STI’s, EVO’s and say Hyundai Genesis Coupe at $25k, 3.8L and 306hp.

Let here your thoughts! Do you want one? Would you consider one if offered in North America? Continue reading ‘North American premiere of the Volkswagen Golf R happened at the Montreal International Auto Show’

MTM Golf GTI with 270hp

MTM Golf GTI with 270hp

MTM drops some new love into the 2009 VW Golf VI GTI. With the brains altered, the MTM Golf GTI jumps from 210hp to 270hp and hits 400nm of torque. They even went as far as adding a second air-filter.

To stop this new beast, MTM bolted on a Brembo kit with 380mm rotors and 8-piston calipers. To keep it stuck on the ground, a set of black 19″ MTM Bimoto wheels wrapped in Continental XL Sportcont tires were installed to improve its handling and stability.
