Audi wins 2nd heat of ‘RCN Green Challenge’ held at the Nurburgring
  • Audi TT 2.0 TFSI takes first and fourth places in efficiency contest
  • Needs just 1.6 liters of fuel per lap on the Northern Loop (20.8 km)
  • Undercuts NEDC consumption for city by 28 percent

In the second heat of the ‘RCN Green Challenge’ held on the Northern Loop of the Nürburgring, Audi once again proved that performance and efficiency are not mutually exclusive: Two Audi TT 2.0 TFSI models entered the efficiency contest, finishing in 1st and 4th place. In this four-lap competition in Germany’s Eifel region, the drivers of the victorious TT Coupé boasted an average fuel consumption of only 1.6 liters per each lap of 20.832 kilometers (12.94 miles). With these results, the winner beat the standard city consumption serving as the benchmark by 28 percent – a feat unmatched by any other participant.

The Audi 2.0 TFSI wins the ‘International Engine of the Year Award 2009’

  • Fifth win in a row for the Audi 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder engine
  • Already over 1.3 million sold worldwide
  • Even greater torque and efficiency thanks to Audi valvelift system

For the fifth time in a row, a jury of 64 leading motoring journalists from over 30 countries has voted the 2.0-liter FSI the ‘International Engine of the Year’ in the 1.8 to 2.0-liter category.

‘A blend of performance and efficiency. An example to all engine manufacturers’, concluded the jury. It was particularly impressed by the way the Audi-developed engine combines pulling power, economy and excellent handling.

Audi is introducing its new sporty top models in the midsize class – the S4 and the S4 Avant. Their engine, a three-liter V6 with direct fuel injection and mechanical turbocharging, delivers a powerful 245 kW (333 hp). It accelerates the S4 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 5.1 seconds, but on average only uses 9.7 liters of fuel per 100 km (24.25 US mpg). The quattro permanent all-wheel drive system transfers its power to the road in style, which is then converted by the sport suspension into dynamic handling. Upon request, Audi can equip the new S4 and S4 Avant with innovative technologies that further increase their lead over the competition. The seven-speed S tronic changes gears with lightning speed, and the new sport differential distributes the torque as needed between the rear wheels.
