As a world premiere, Skoda Auto is going to present a facelifted version of the Octavia at this year’s Paris Motor Show.

Produced or assembled in altogether eight countries, the Octavia is Skoda’s bestseller. The rejuvenated version is now coming with a more emotionally powerful design. ‘The Octavia has always had a special position among Skoda vehicles. It is our most successful model, very popular worldwide. Now it has gone through a complete transformation that is apparent in the new interior and exterior, as well as the applied technology,’ said Dr. Eckhard Scholz, BOD Member responsible for technological development. The millionth Skoda vehicle was manufactured today in the Vrchlabí plant of the largest Czech car manufacturer since 1991, when the company was merged with the Volkswagen concern. The vehicle was the Skoda Octavia Combi in the Elegance version with a 2.0 TDI DPF engine for a Germany customer.
The plant at Vrchlabí was founded one hundred years ago this year. Since 1991 it has produced the following models: the Favorit, Forman, Felicia, Felicia Combi, Van Plus, Pick-up Fun, Fabia Sedan, Octavia and first generation Octavia Combi. At present the factory is producing the Octavia Tour, Octavia Tour Combi, Octavia and Octavia Combi.
“Vehicles have been produced in Vrchlabí for one hundred years, and this means we have extensive experience and tradition, on which we intend to continue building,” said Horst Mühl, member of the Board of Directors of Skoda Auto responsible for production.

The Czech car maker Skoda Auto will provide 27 Skoda Superb cars to the Czech Government car fleet during the Czech EU presidency in 2009.

Low-consumption, low-emission vehicles to provide shuttle services at Main Press Center of Beijing Olympic Games

As the exclusive Automobile Partner of the 2008 Olympic Games, Volkswagen Group China, together with its joint ventures Shanghai Volkswagen and FAW Volkswagen, officially handed over 5,000 vehicles to the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG). The vehicles provide logistic support for the organizers, athletes, media and Olympic guests. Volkswagen technicians and service crews will supply round-the-clock support for the fleet, which comprises low-consumption, low-emission vehicles and has been christened the “Green Fleet”. The Magotan 2.0 TDI, Sagitar 1.4 TSI, Touran EcoFuel, Tiguan 2.0 TDI and Magotan BlueMotion models that make up the fleet were recently presented to the Main Press Center of the Beijing Olympic Games. Another legendary race will kick off this weekend. This one isn’t a 24hr but rather a 3 week race and its called the Tour de France!
Škoda Auto will act as the Main Partner of the legendary Tour de France for the fifth time this year. The cornerstone of the Company’s presentation will be the new-generation Škoda Superb – the official vehicle of the Tour de France. The Superb will be used by TdF Director Christian Prudhomme and members of the TdF organisation team, as well as VIP guests. In addition, the new model will play a dominant role in the advertising convoy familiar to fans along the route. Just as many times in the past, the 35th Rally Bohemia will again, on 4 July, start from the Škoda Auto Museum in Mladá Boleslav. Beginning on Friday, 4 July, the rally will take place under the auspices of the car manufacturer with the winged arrow in its emblem. Surrounded by Škoda’s ‘automobile town’, the rally promises to offer an attractive show, a vintage car race and, as part of the start-ramp presentation, the first appearance of the prototype of the Škoda Fabia Super 2000, the company’s latest competition vehicle. Successful tarmac test of the new Škoda Fabia Super 2000. Besides experienced test drivers Jan Kopecký and Raimund Baumschlager, the team recently testing the competition version of the Fabia Super 2000 in Austria included two times world champion Carlos Sainz. The Volkswagen factory driver won the Central European Rally with a Race Touareg this year in April and contributed to the double success of the new Scirocco in its class at the 24-hour race in Nürnburgring a few days ago.
