Skoda Auto sees better results in third quarter over last year

Skoda Auto has delivered 6.5% more vehicles to its customers than it did over the same period of 2008 – 174,984 from July till September 2009 versus 164,258 last year.

The Czech Republic´s largest car manufacturer has delivered 504,625 cars to its customers from January till September 2009 – the Skoda brand only fell by 5.0%, although the global car market saw an 11.9% year-on-year fall. The Group has manufactured 387,574 vehicles in all of its plants over the first nine months of this year, 22.4% less than it did over the same period of 2008. Besides that, Skoda Auto also manufactures vehicles in China – (89,911 vehicles over the first months of this year). Skoda is contributing EUR 162.4 million of its operating profit over the first nine months of 2009 to the overall figures of the Volkswagen Group.

Skoda Auto sees September 2009 as most successful month in history

Škoda Auto achieved the highest sales figures in its history in September – with 69,023 vehicles in total, the brand’s sales were 17% higher as compared with the same month of 2008. Skoda Motorsport race report from the San Remo Rally

Having won the first speed trial of the 51st San Remo Rally, Jan Kopecký and Petr Starý of Škoda Motorsport, Škoda Auto’s factory team, started this challenging event full of challenging bends and quick changes in the driving rhythm really excellently. Unfortunately, the expected duel between Kopecký and Kris Meek plus a pack of home racers ended already during the second trial when Kopecký damaged the rear-left wheel suspension of his car by touching a wall along the track and had to give the race up as a consequence.

IRC: Three Fabias S2000 at Principe de Asturias Rally

Altogether three Skoda Fabias Super 2000 are going to appear at the Principe de Asturias Rally, the ninth event of this year’s IRC series that is to take place near Oviedo, Spain on 10-12 September.

Jan Kopecky and Petr Stary from Skoda Motorsport team, the crew that triumphed at the most remote IRC event in Zlín, are going to drive a factory Fabia, young French Julien Maurin and, in particular, Alberto Hevia, a Spaniard that won the Rally de Ferrol (part of the Spanish championship) in late August in his first-ever appearance with the Skoda Fabia Super 2000, will drive private Fabias.

Making Skoda Motorsport’s fifth appearance in this year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) series and this great achievement even sweeter, Juho Hanninen and Mikko Markkula came third.

First Skoda 100/110 was produced in Mlada Boleslav plant forty years ago

After a company-wide vacation forty years ago, Automobilove zavody narodni podnik started producing an impatiently expected new vehicle – the Skoda 100/110. The production launch was not delayed despite a devastating fire that severely damaged one of the parts of the Mlada Boleslav plant. The Skoda 100/110 was then produced from 1969 till 1977.
