WTCC: SEAT keeps the leadership of the World Touring Car Championship

The eighth meeting of the WTCC at the Oschersleben circuit has been difficult for the SEAT Sport team, having to stand the effects of the additional ballast carried by the SEAT León TDI. However, the team managed to score important points, allowing them to keep the leadership in both championships. Tiago Monteiro and Jordi Gené finished on fourth position in the first and second race respectively, while Tom Coronel was second in the second race at the wheel of his SEAT León WTCC. WTCC: Yvan Muller clinches new podium finish for SEAT

SEAT achieved another podium finish today, thanks to the second position of Yvan Muller in the first of two races of the WTCC staged today on the British racetrack of Brands Hatch. Under little favourable conditions, and driving against much lighter cars, the León TDI had a good performance scoring important points that keep SEAT in the lead of the constructors’ championship and Muller and Tarquini, who scored points in both races, in the top two spots of the drivers’ standings. WTCC: SEAT Sport facing a difficult race

The qualifying session for the first race of the WTCC, to be staged tomorrow on the British Brands Hatch racetrack, did not bring favourable grid positions for the SEAT Sport drivers. Yvan Muller was the fastest of them, qualifying sixth, whilst Tiago Monteiro finished eleventh. WTCC: Third 1-2 finish of the season for SEAT

Rickard Rydell and Tiago Monteiro have been victorious at the sixth meeting of the World Touring Car Championship staged this weekend at the Portuguese racetrack of Estoril. The SEAT drivers took the victory in both races, with Yvan Muller finishing third and second respectively. With this result, SEAT keep three drivers in the top three positions of the drivers’ championship and increase their advantage in the constructors’ championship. The FIA WTCC World Touring Car Championship will be reaching the half-way point next weekend with the sixth meeting in Estoril of the scheduled twelve on the race calendar. SEAT Sport is going into the race in the lead of the drivers’ and manufacturers’ titles after winning five races, nine podiums and three pole positions at the first five events.   • The official KTM España team has made the SEAT Altea freetrack its official vehicle at the Spanish Championships

Gabriele Tarquini clinched and excellent victory at the tenth scoring race of the FIA World Touring Car Championship held today in Brno, after a spectacular finish, taking the chequered flag only three-tenths of a seconds ahead of Alex Zanardi. Thanks to this victory and to the points scored in both races, SEAT and Tarquini keep their leadership in the overall standings after an especially difficult weekend due to the ballast with which the León TDI had been penalised. Both races held on the French track of Pau finished with a good result for SEAT Sport, since Yvan Muller, Jordi Gené and Rickard Rydell were able to step onto the podium, thus allowing the make and their drivers to stay on top of the World Championship standings. The first race was staged on a dry track and the second in the rain, and the SEAT León TDI showed its competitiveness in both of them, despite the weight differences compared to its rivals.
