The Volkswagen Racing Cup is set to break new ground in 2010 as two drivers with disabilities join the grid. Phil Morris and Simon Andrews will race specially adapted Golf GTIs in the Fuchs Lubricants-backed championship – and both men cannot wait to get into action for their maiden races.
Phil, who lost a leg after a motorcycle accident, and wheelchair user Simon have both had to prove to UK motorsport’s governing body, the MSA, their fitness to compete. It’s been a sometimes tortuous process but each has now passed the ARDS test and has earned his track licence. (continue reading…)

Anna’s Golf GTI – a championship-winning car in the hands of Tony Gilham in 2007 – is to be prepared by Blencowe’s team, with Alan planning to guide Anna to success as part of her plan to reach the BTCC by 2012. The Volkswagen Racing Cup is celebrating its 10th birthday in fine style – with a new title sponsor for 2010 and a superb provisional calendar for the coming season which includes the championship’s first-ever overseas event.

Joe Fulbrook is – for the second successive year – the Volkswagen Racing Cup Champion. The Berkshire Bora driver clinched the Hankook-backed championship by the skin of his teeth, and thanks to a Herculean effort from the RP Motorsport team, at Brands Hatch yesterday.

Volkswagen Racing Cup championship title fortunes swung full circle this weekend as Bora driver Joe Fulbrook regained the initiative thanks to a win and a second-place finish at Silverstone while Donington double victor Didge Dziurzynski endured a no-score weekend through mechanical problems. Scirocco pilot Liam Griffin was the Joker-playing victor of the other Silverstone race.
