The 2010 DTM season that will start at the Hockenheimring on April 25, 2010 is marked by maximum efficiency: Audi will compete with the known model generations of the Audi A4 DTM and is expecting a potential to reduce the fielding cost by more than 30 percent without the sport losing any of its attractiveness to fans, media, drivers and teams. The freeze on the technical development of all DTM vehicles has enabled this step. (continue reading…)
Markus Winkelhock and Katherine Legge will be in for some completely new challenges in the 2010 DTM: for the first time, both of them will compete as team colleagues for Audi Sport Team Rosberg. That the driver from southern Germany’s “Swabia” region will continue to advertise the men’s magazine “Playboy” on the Audi A4 DTM while Katherine Legge will represent the colors of “Glamour” magazine should add a dose of lifestyle spice to the DTM – and can be expected to inspire the media to come up with some clever comparisons and puns. In a manner of speaking, the 2010 DTM will see the two Audi “factory” drivers Alexandre Prémat and Mike Rockenfeller experience a “reunion.” The two finished the 2008 season as team colleagues in Audi Sport Team Joest at the wheel of the Audi R10 TDI by winning the European Le Mans Series but have always contested the DTM for different teams – the Frenchman for Audi Sport Team Phoenix, the German for Audi Sport Team Rosberg. Jarvis, who at the age 26 is the youngest Audi ‘factory’ driver, will take the place of Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen in Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline to make his debut in the most popular international touring car series in a current-specification Audi A4 after a two-year ‘apprenticeship’ in a prior-spec model. This automatically moves him into the group of candidates for the title. (continue reading…)
Just as it has been the case last year, the 2010 season of the most popular international touring car series again will comprise 10 races. The rounds of the 2010 season will be held in four European and one Asian country.
