After four hours of racing unfortunately the #85 car is in the box with an engine problem. The other car also had to return for a quick repair as the alternator did not work properly.
Just before 17:00, after almost two hours racing, both cars made a pit stop including driver change. Benjamin Leuenberger replaced Andrea Chiesa and rejoined the field in a tenth position and Ralf Kelleners took over from Peter Dumbreck in the 85 SNORAS Spyker Squadron car that was running in an eight position. 6:12 - Joerg has left pit lane, but radios in that the steering wheel is off to the right. He will continue and let us know if there are any other issues. 1 hour and 20 minutes since Seth went into the gravel. The crew replaced nearly every bodywork component, two radiators, and rear suspension parts.
6:09 pm - The car has been restarted in the garage. The crew is working on the setup right now and confirming that the repairs have all been done correctly. Joerg Bergmeister is in the car. They will push him out into the pit stall and they will do some more checks, then send him on his way. Continue reading ‘24 Hour of Le Mans: Flying Lizard crash’

Another source for coverage (we wanted to keep it separate)
Our friend Thomas Baekdal has once again launched his Le Mans 2008 Live Tracker app. We wrote about his work in 2007 and said it was a great compliment to the TV and radiolemans. If you are a member of the Club24, you can add in the video feeds. This will help when SPEEDtv is not showing.

We’ve compiled a list here of dates/times/channels of all types of coverage. If you have a TiVo set it and let it go. This way you will not miss anything due to yard work etc.

A great interview with Allan McNish. If you ever have the chance to meet him, don’t let the opportunity pass you by!
The 13.629 kilometre track of the Le Mans 24 Hour race is something special for every driver. The mix of public roads and a permanent race track, very slow corners and a share of more than 70 per cent of full throttle per lap, as well as day and night fascinate both drivers and the audience. Audi driver Allan McNish explains why. Continue reading ‘Audi driver Allan McNish on Le Mans’
We have been listening to all the audio we could this week. There is a ton of chatter regarding Peugeots times and Audi’s reactions. It’s almost as everyone has confirmed a Peugeot win, yet at the same time they call up Audi’s history, especially last year. We think it will all come down to this… Audi knows what they are doing.

After two days of trouble-free qualifying Audi Sport Team Joest will start well sorted into the 76th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Audi squad was able to work out a good and – above all – safe to drive set-up for the race with all three Audi R10 TDI prototypes. The qualifying sessions were a blast to listen to yesterday and today. If you fortunate enough to listen in and hear the moment when Patrick Long went 3:58, you probably got the same chills we did! Joerg Bergmeister and the #80 Flying Lizard Motorsport 911 GT3 RSR had pole until those moments. He was very anxious to break the 4:00 mark but team orders thought differently.
