Jetta TDI Cup: DeNino Wins Pole and Finishes Fifth at Lime Rock



Having recently undergone major renovations, the track surface and facilities at Lime Rock Park were in excellent condition. Friday morning started off with a free practice session which would reveal tire problems that would set the mood for the rest of the weekend.

After the first practice session many of the Jetta TDI Cup drivers suffered blistering and delaminating tires. The Volkswagen team was outstanding and without hesitation in addressing the situation as they used all resources possible to determine what was causing this problem. I was fortunate not to have any tire issues in my practice session, and was very happy when I found out that I had the second fastest time in the session. Jetta TDI Cup: Michael DeNino secures pole at Lime Rock

HUGE congrats to Michael DeNino (our resident Jetta TDI Cup racer/reporter) and his first pole of the season. Not only is he on pole but he was the only driver to go under the 1:00:00 mark.

Racing starts early tomorrow and you can keep up with live timing.

Michael DeNino secures pole place at Lime Rock race of Jetta TDI Cup.

Michael DeNino, Gaitherburg, Md., secured the pole position today for Saturday’s Jetta TDI Cup race at Lime Rock Park with a best lap time of :59.977. The race, which will take place at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the historic track as part of the NASCAR Camping World Series East, marks the fourth race in the clean diesel series and the halfway point of the inaugural season. DeNino is currently ranked 15th in the series overall. Speaking at the driver debrief after qualifying was famed F1 local driver Sam Posey, who offered additional instruction and tips to the up-and-coming drivers. Michael DeNino: Jetta TDI Cup - Portland report

Michael DeNino has been traveling a bit after the Portland race. When we last talked to him, he was in Florida only days after. He managed to write up a report for us and send it over.

Portland, Oregon marked the third stop of the Jetta TDI Cup season. Having never traveled to this city, I was excited to head out west. After having some experience driving a sedan from the previous two races, I was optimistic that my performance would improve in Portland.

Jetta TDI Cup: Qualifying results from Mosport

Josh Hurley puts himself on pole, once again in Round 2 of the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup. Mark Pombo, Round 1 winner at VIRginia, placed 23rd and will have a lot of work ahead of him. Michael DeNino pulled in at 14th.

Josh Hurley will have the coveted pole position in tomorrow’s Jetta TDI Cup at Mosport International Raceway in the only international race in this all-new racing series. After a practice session in the morning on a wet track in the rain, the qualifying race was run under dry conditions allowing the drivers to make use of both conditions in order to prepare for tomorrow’s race.
