Volkswagen’s June 2008 sales are up

We do not focus on sales press releases, but with today’s chatter about auto sales taking a plunge, its good to see Volkswagen in the green. We’ve been seeing a ton of the Volkswagen Eos driving around town! With the Jetta TDI demo’s at the dealers now and the Tiguan on sale, it will be interesting to see the next few months.

On the other hand, Chrysler did have one of the biggest hits yet the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan posted excellent increases of 21% and 52%, respectively. Where will this put the Volkswagen Routan when it hits dealers in the Fall of 2008?

Best Overall Sales Month Since August 2006

Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced June 2008 sales of 23,208 units, a 0.3 percent increase over the June 2007 sales of 23,137 vehicles. On a year-to-date basis, 2008 Volkswagen sales remain 0.6 percent ahead of 2007 sales through June.

The penultimate stop in the Touareg Stanley’s international exhibition tour is The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, California. The prototype will be on display there from 20 June to 18 July 2008. It was here in the Silicon Valley region near San Francisco that the Stanley project was originally born. GIAC would like to congratulate Regal Autosport and VF-Engineering for taking top honors at the 2008 GTI International Sprint Competition in Leicestershire, England. Regal brought out their in-house Mk5 GTI equipped with the VF-Engineering/GIAC RSS turbo upgrade for some friendly competition in front of a gathering of enthusiasts. Volkswagen wins the ‘Golden Drop of Oil 2008′ award for energy and environment

Volkswagen has won the international competition ‘Golden Drop of Oil 2008′ for its innovative engine-gearbox combination, the powerful 90 kW TSI engine and the new 7-speed DSG gearbox. The energy and environment prize is awarded annually by the German automobile club ‘Kraftfahrer-Schutz e. V. (KS)’. The club awards this prize for technical developments in passenger cars which make a significant contribution towards reducing fuel consumption and safeguarding the environment.
