It is kinda odd that both both Audi and Porsche will be racing their prototypes in Germany for the first time.

Porsche RS Spyder makes race debut in Germany

After securing wins in Spain, Italy and Belgium, the Porsche RS Spyder now races on home ground for the first time. At the fourth of five rounds of the European Le Mans Series (LMS) three of the 476 hp sports prototypes, developed and built in Weissach, take up the race for LMP2 class honours from 15th to 17th August on the Nürburgring. The RS Spyder, fielded by Porsche customer teams Van Merksteijn Motorsport (Netherlands), Essex (Denmark) and Horag Racing (Switzerland), rekindle memories of Porsche’s great tradition on the Eifel track. Fascinating motorsport is guaranteed at the 1,000 kilometre race – alone considering the entry list of almost 50 race cars on the 5.148 kilometre Grand Prix circuit. The Audi R10 TDI has won the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans three times in succession. For the first time the ground breaking diesel sportscar competes in the 1000-kilometre race at the Nürburgring on 17 August in the country where it was designed: Germany. Spyker Squadron: 4 hour update

After four hours of racing unfortunately the #85 car is in the box with an engine problem. The other car also had to return for a quick repair as the alternator did not work properly.

Just before 17:00, after almost two hours racing, both cars made a pit stop including driver change. Benjamin Leuenberger replaced Andrea Chiesa and rejoined the field in a tenth position and Ralf Kelleners took over from Peter Dumbreck in the 85 SNORAS Spyker Squadron car that was running in an eight position. 6:12 - Joerg has left pit lane, but radios in that the steering wheel is off to the right. He will continue and let us know if there are any other issues. 1 hour and 20 minutes since Seth went into the gravel. The crew replaced nearly every bodywork component, two radiators, and rear suspension parts.

6:09 pm - The car has been restarted in the garage. The crew is working on the setup right now and confirming that the repairs have all been done correctly. Joerg Bergmeister is in the car.
