The new Porsche 911 GT3 R will be powered by a four-litre six-cylinder boxer engine besting the old Cup model by 30bhp. With 480bhp pushing 2600+lb, its bound to be a winner. We will see the official debut in January at the Birmingham Motor Show. Few more pics after the jump.

At the end of the 2009 motorsport season AUDI AG cannot only be pleased with the successful title defense in the DTM. The Audi R8 LMS made a convincing showing in its first racing season as well: The GT3 race sports car developed for customer sport clinched 23 victories and three champion’s titles.
FIA GT Championship, round eight in Zolder, Belgium
A tailor-made finale for Richard Westbrook. Claiming victory in Belgium’s Zolder at the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, the Briton secured the FIA GT Championship GT2 class drivers’ title to continue the streak of 911 successes this year. With the 911 GT3 RSR, Porsche pilots won the GT2 championship titles in the American Le Mans Series, the Le Mans Series, as well as other championships. Moreover, the 450 hp racer from Weissach was celebrated as the winning car at the prestigious Nürburgring 24 hour race in 2009.
Christopher Haase and Christopher Mies took their third win of the year in Round 11 at Zolder to regain the lead in the FIA GT3 European Drivers Championship with one race remaining. The race started behind the safety car because of the wet conditions with Haase, in the #26 Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS, starting on pole position. Despite a serious accident Christopher Haase and Christopher Mies defended the lead of the standings in the FIA GT3 European Championship at Le Castellet (France).
Like several other drivers, Mies became the victim of a sudden rain shower that resulted in the early end of the first race on the fourth lap. Mies suffered a concussion. The Audi R8 LMS of Team Phoenix Racing was so heavily damaged in the incident that the two Germans were not able to start anymore on Sunday. In the second race Nicolas Armindo and Cesar Campanico in the Audi R8 LMS of Team Rosberg clinched second place and thus gave Audi a one-two lead in the overall standings.
Could we be one step closer to seeing the Audi R8 LMS in the U.S of A? It is kinda of odd that a American based team heads over to Europe rather than enter the American Le Mans Series here. Reading on, it talks about a migration to the FIA GT1 class or Le Mans Series.
Pending formal FIA approval, the 2010 FIA GT3 European Championship is expected to feature a notably American accent through the newly launched United Autosports race team, it was announced today. The team will field two factory-assisted Audi R8 LMS racecars, according to co-owner and driver, American Zak Brown.
After a dominant weekend at the Autódromo Internacional Algarve in Portugal Christopher Haase and Christopher Mies, in the Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS, lead the driver’s championship by 11 points as the FIA GT3 European Championship heads to Paul Ricard HTTT in the South of France for the penultimate meeting of the 2009 season on 3rd and 4th October.
Christopher Haase took the checkered flag in Portugal to record the first FIA GT3 European Championship win for himself, Christopher Mies, Phoenix Racing and for the Audi R8 LMS. Starting from 4th on the grid Mies quickly moved up to challenge Thomas Accary in the Hexis Racing AMR Aston Martin DBRS9 for the lead. Accary held on until the pitstops but the Aston failed to restart when Julien Rodrigues took over, handing Haase a massive 26 second lead over the rest of the field. Second place went to the victors of the last race in Oschersleben, the Fischer Racing Ford GT of Christoffer Nygaard and Florian Gruber. The final podium position going to Diego Alessi and Luca Pirri in the Marc Sourd Racing Corvette Z06R with an excellent drive from the back of the grid to record their, and Corvette’s, first podium finish of the season.
