The readers of the German car magazine sport auto have cast their votes: Audi has taken first place in three classes in the poll to find ‘The Sportiest Cars of 2008’ with the S3, the RS 6 Avant, and the R8.
The victory of the Audi RS 6 Avant in its first appearance in the poll was particularly notable. It amassed a total of 31.7 % of reader votes and left its German competitors trailing in its wake.
As well as these three victories, the brand with the four rings also took numerous other top-three placings in the reader poll. The Audi A3 2.0 TDI, Audi TT Roadster 2.0 TFSI and Audi TTS all came second in their groups, while the A4 3.0 TDI quattro, A4 3.2 FSI quattro and A6 3.2 FSI quattro took impressive third places.
In ‘The Sportiest Cars of 2008’, there was a total of 14 categories for series-production vehicles and 11 tuning classes. More than 10,000 readers of sport auto took part.

From a twin-turbo 5.0-litre V10 comes 572bhp and 480lb ft – more than a Lamborghini Gallardo. But do such ridiculous outputs and a 2.2-tonne kerb weight stretch the fast estate concept beyond the realms of acceptability and usability, or are we looking at something altogether new: the first super-estate?
more sickness to drool over.. Audi, I may never have the chance to afford one of these machines but damn let the US HAVE A SHARE OF THESE so I can at least witness in person! or like the Audi Streets of Tomorrow event, get a ride in it like I did with the RS4.

but hows this for news.. THE AUDI RS6 WILL NOT BE FOR SALE IN THE U.S!!!!!!
I hate the angles on the full car shots but the mesmerizing blue, wheel flairs, stance.. well just about everything keeps ya drooling. Not even a Bounty paper towel can clean up!

It requires just 4.6 seconds for the sprint from a standing start to 62 mph, and reaches the 125 mph mark in a mere 14.9 seconds. Only when the needle touches 155 mph is the propulsive power electronically governed.

We catch Audi’s RS6 testing at the ‘ring
As a direct competitor to the Mercedes E63 AMG and BMW M5 which have both been presented a while ago, Audi is planning to offer the RS6, seen here undergoing final tests at the German Nurburgring.
The bigger air intakes in the front bumper, the wider fenders and the diffuser at the rear are the key clues. While the S models have four round exhaust pipes, the RS models will receive oval pipes as their distinguishing feature. Shown in these spy photos is the saloon, but the new RS6 will also be available as an estate.
Powered by the same V10 engine as the S6, but with some help from a turbo delivering about 520-550 bhp, this Audi will give the M5 and E63 AMG a strong challenge. The RS6 will debut in Frankfurt in September this year.
