Audi’s commitment to safety goes beyond crash test safety ratings, includes range of preventive safety features

The Audi Q7, a luxury performance SUV, earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick award for 2008. The 2008 Q7 received a “good” rating in all three crash tests: side impact, offset frontal and rear impact seat tests. In addition to the Q7, three Audi car models – the A3, A4 and A6 – have also been recognized as Top Safety Picks in 2008, earning Audi the most Top Safety Pick designations for 2008 models of any luxury automaker this year. Audi Q7: Tuned by Abt!

The German Car blog has some new shots via Auto Motor und Sport of ABT’s new Q7. Now we both posted on JE Design’s mod’d Q7, in which we both disliked.

I mentioned how I wasn’t that happy with the Q7’s design in general. I also think it’s a bit late to market with a SUV. Abt does a superb job with the DTM Audi’s but that is another story. The Q7 just seems to beg, “Leave me alone”. I think this holds true to the VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne, I haven’t seen one with a bodykit, dropped etc that I was pleased with.
