Wow. Wow. Wow. If you were there or able to catch the action on TV, this was just an amazing day. I’m not going to say the racing gods gave Audi the help or luck because ALL of Audi acted like Gods, themselves. It all started on the grid formation lap when Allan McNish decided to go off smacking the wall in The Esses. The #1 Audi was done… or so we thought. allan limped the R10 TDI back to pit-road where the “God like” actions of the crew did what they do best, they fixed it and dropped two laps down. We will also give credit to the heart of Audi which is indestructable. The team, the drivers and the “God like” durability of the cars. One last note, it was after Allan had crashed, he said to his team;
“If you fix it, I will win this race”

Capello/McNish/Pirro win after fight back

The final race of the 2008 Le Mans Series will be a huge one for Audi. Since the start Peugeot has dominated the Audi R10 TDI’s. Yet, at the same time Audi has kept up in the points. We think the overall title is more important to Audi than power + speed. 2pts behind in Driver Champ’s and 6pts behind in Manufacturer Champ’s.
Audi competes in a second race in Great Britain only 14 days after Timo Scheider’s victory at Brands Hatch in the Audi A4 DTM: The finale of the European based Le Mans Series (LMS) is held on 14 September at Silverstone where Audi Sport Team Joest still has chances of winning the title. Emanuele Pirro and Marcel Fassler at the driver change
Audi drivers Marcel Fassler and Emanuele Pirro achieved their first victory in the LM P1 class of the American Le Mans Series in the city street race in Detroit (U.S. state of Michigan). After a faultless drive they finished third overall with their Audi R10 TDI. Lucas Luhr and Marc Werner retired early following an accident and, after seven consecutive victories, for the first time this year did not score any points. Well done and congrats but Petit Le Mans and Peugeot are around the corner in America!!! We hate saying this but LMP1 is like GT1… unless its Sebring, Le Mans and Petit.
Audi have prematurely clinched the LM P1 Manufacturers’ Championship in the American Le Mans Series with their third consecutive 1-2 victory. Before the last three races, the brand with the four rings is out of reach in the classifications for engine and chassis manufacturers.
- Third consecutive 1-2 victory in the American Le Mans Series
- Twin strategies successful at Mosport
- Premature titles in the Manufacturers’ Championship
