The final race of the 2008 Le Mans Series will be a huge one for Audi. Since the start Peugeot has dominated the Audi R10 TDI’s. Yet, at the same time Audi has kept up in the points. We think the overall title is more important to Audi than power + speed. 2pts behind in Driver Champ’s and 6pts behind in Manufacturer Champ’s.

Audi competes in a second race in Great Britain only 14 days after Timo Scheider’s victory at Brands Hatch in the Audi A4 DTM: The finale of the European based Le Mans Series (LMS) is held on 14 September at Silverstone where Audi Sport Team Joest still has chances of winning the title. At the eighth DTM round at Brands Hatch, Audi celebrated their fourth win of the 2008 season. In unstable weather conditions Timo Scheider defended an extremely narrow lead against Mercedes driver Paul di Resta on the British circuit. In front of 26,800 spectators (throughout the weekend) Timo Scheider thus extended his leadership of the standings to nine points. Ok. We don’t like to swear on this site but sometimes it requires some… HOLY M***** F***** !!!! In the back of everyone’s mind we are sure there was this vision, hope, dream that an Audi R8 would be made into a race version! We here it is!!! BAM! Will we see this put into a DTM version. It is RWD.
For the first time, Audi Sport will offer a racing sports car specifically developed for customer use in the form of the powerful 500 hp plus GT3 version of the Audi R8 which will be available from autumn 2009. The logistics and factory space required for the AUDI AG customer programme will be created over the next few months in Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm and Györ.
