GTI Meeting, Wörthersee, May 2008

Crazy! Now don’t jump all over this concept yelling bling or “ricer” (sorry for the term) but this is pure Worthersee material! If you follow this show or the scene over there, this is it!

APR Motorsports at Daytona Testing

We found a great video from Garage419 which focuses on the new 2008 APR Motorsports effort. The video features footage from the Daytona Test Days, interviews with Randy Pobst and Ian Bass. Randy even breaks down the GTI for us in terms of the class regulations. *Hint: stock

It’s a great insight about the series, the car or APR Motosport.

Here’s to a successful, fun and safe season.

One of the leading VW, Audi, and Porsche tuning and engineering firms in the world, APR, is entering professional racing with the formation of the APR Motorsport. Garage419 met up with Team APR, including drivers Randy Pobst, Ian Baas, and Mark White, during pre-season testing at Daytona Speedway as they were fine tuning the three VW GTI race cars which they have entered in the Koni Challenge ST class for the 2008 Grand Am Series.

Bildon Motorsport has teamed up with GSM Racing this year and brings back their Volkswagen GTI to the series. GSM also has an Audi TT entered!

Friday’s race came and went, almost overshadowed by the Rolex 24 of Daytona. We were even to busy to watch or report on it, live.

Thursdays first practice saw an Acura and two Chevy Cobalts go 1-2-3. The first GTI was that of APR with Pobst/White in 10th. The second was Bass/von Molke in 23rd. GSM’s GTI was 34th with the last APR entry posting no time. The GSM Audi TT posted no time as well.

The second practice was much better with Pobst/White placing 3rd. Bass/von Molke was 15th and GSM’s GTI 46 with the TT in 47th. No time posted for the third APR GTI.

Qualifying saw Acura TSX got 1-2 and a Honda Accord take 3rd. The top GTI was that of Pobst/White in 8th. Bass/von Molke came in 31st, GSM’s GTI in 34th, with no times from practice the APR GTI of Tucker/ Zabinski pulled in 36th and the Audi TT posted no time.

There was another practice on race day but in the end it was Acura’s taking the top 4 places. APR’s Pobst/White placed 21st, Tucker / Zabinski 23rd and Bass/von Molke 41st.

GSM Motorsport’s GTI placed 42nd and the Audi TT 47th.

We have no official follow up’s from the teams/drivers but will post if we do.

Mark your calendars/TiVo’s for Feb 2, 8:00 PM SPEED *
