Porsche to debut new Cayenne generations in Geneva including the new Cayenne S Hybrid

Come March, Porsche will be doing somewhat of an about face. The underlying principle of Porsche Intelligent Performance will lead the new models. The Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne Turbo, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo will all see better fuel consumption ratings and less CO2 output. Overall weight savings will amount to a sportier drive. The new Tiptronic S eight-speed automatic transmission with Auto Start Stop will also be a featured option. Aggressive new body lines give the Cayenne a great new look. Automobiltechnik GmbH & Co. KG from Leonberg near Stuttgart extends its steering wheel programme by a new product development which fits all Porsche Cayenne models with automatic transmission.  
Measuring only 365 millimetres in diameter and an ergonomic shape for extra grip, it is most suitable for dynamic drivers. For the extra amount motor sports feeling, GEMBALLA practicably placed F1 rocker switches in the classical switch scheme behind the steering wheel rim – up right and down left. An integrated full size airbag guarantees the accustomed safety.

No, no, not the epic, ego-fuelled duel between the Porsche and Piech families. But before going on to discuss the “other” power struggle, we simply must spend a moment on the spectacular tale of how one German car company lost its independence to another. The creative geniuses behind the late Dynasty TV show could not have dreamt up this one. In the end, Volkswagen’s Ferdinand Piech emerged the victor, leaving former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking with nothing but a hefty €50-million severance package to stanch the bleeding caused by falling on his sword. Wiedeking’s daring gamble to engineer a takeover of VW by Porsche collapsed under an Everest of debt – too much for Porsche to manage alone in this global recession.

J.D. Power Study Distinguishes 911 and Cayenne

For the fifth time in a row, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG took first place in the brand ranking from the latest opinion poll ‘Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study (APEAL)’ conducted by the US market research institute J.D. Power. As a result, Porsche has succeeded in moving even further ahead of other premium manufacturers in the USA. Along with the outstanding overall rating of the brand Porsche, the sports car 911 Carrera and the sporty Cayenne SUV also earned honors: Based on their equally high quality and esteem, customers confirmed the two model series as the best vehicles in their categories ‘Premium Sporty’ and ‘Midsize Premium Multi Activity Vehicle’.
