The 2013 Audi RS 5 makes its U.S. debut this week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. A classically elegant coupe with unbridled power, the Audi RS 5 features a high-revving 4.2-liter V8 with 450 horsepower and a seven-speed S tronic transmission with launch control program. An innovative crown-gear center differential in the quattro drivetrain transmits power to all four wheels, providing exceptional traction and grip for increased performance. YouTube member and petrol head NM2255 spotted this badly damaged 2011 Audi RS5. The accident occurred on the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza during a private trackday, but is unknown what exactly happened. Quattro-lovers, rejoice: it seems Audi’s awesome RS5 may be headed stateside after all.

We loved Audi’s RS5 the first time we laid eyes upon it at the Geneva motor show — and how could we not? The engineers in Ingolstadt managed to pack the already shapely coupe with an even more potent form of the S5′s 4.2-liter V-8, which throws down 450 horsepower at a screaming 8250 rpm. Couple that with Audi’s legendary all-wheel-drive system, plus its new torque-vectoring rear-differential, and…well, how could we not be tempted? (continue reading…)
