AUDI AG is continuing on its growth curve in China: Yesterday the company already exceeded last year’s unit sales volume. This makes 2009 the most successful year in Audi’s 21-year history in China. Since January, Audi has delivered 118,196 cars in China, an increase of 22 percent over the corresponding prior-year period.

A key factor contributing to this unit sales record have been the models produced in Changchun: the long-wheelbase version of the Audi A6 (80,308 units, up 16.6 percent) and the Audi A4, likewise in the long-wheelbase version (28,269 units, up 62 percent). Audi is expecting a further growth surge from the Audi Q5, which has just been introduced in China and is also produced in cooperation with joint venture partner FAW.

‘This record exceeds our expectations. We are therefore increasing our unit sales target for 2009 and will be selling well over 130,000 cars in China,’ says Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG. Audi is clearly well on its way toward a new record year in China.
