On 16 August, the legendary Red Bull X-Fighters will make their German debut of defying gravel, dust and rough terrain to show premium-class freestyle motocross sport at the Oetelshofen quarry near Wuppertal. The Volkswagen Race Touareg will be part of the action.
In the event billed as ‘FMX meets Industry’ the world’s twelve best FMX riders with their jumps and tricks will deliver the German FMX competition of the year to enthusiastic fans on the fringe of the Ruhr region. Arguably, the most exciting question will be whether the current overall leader, the Swiss high-flyer Mat Rebeaud, will be able to maintain, or even extend, his advantage.
Volkswagen Motorsport will be part of the action with its vehicle line-up from the Dakar Rally: the 280-hp Race Touareg will chauffeur the bike aces into the 50 hectare arena of the quarry. At the wheel: Audi factory driver Martin Tomczyk, who will switch from his A4 DTM into the successful rally prototype for the first time. Other vehicles to marvel at: the MAN Race Truck and the Service Touareg from Volkswagen’s ‘Dakar’ squad.
