SEAT and KTM have reached an advantageous collaboration agreement whereby both companies’ official teams are providing each other part of their product range throughout the 2008 season.
KTM España has already given the SEAT Sport team three KTM units for internal transfers at the circuits – two 690 Supermoto motorcycles to cover the long distances within the enclosed area at the World Championship venues, and the all-purpose Quad 450 XC that the teams of mechanics use to easily haul heavy loads like wheels and toolboxes wherever they are needed.
On the other hand, KTM España gets to use two SEAT Altea freetrack units, one Diesel and the other petrol-powered, to transport their riders to the different venues hosting the Spanish Endurance, Cross Country, Moto Cross, Supermotard, Quads and Rally Raid championships, including three-time World Endurance Champion Iván Cervantes. The KTM España team appreciate the Altea freetrack’s roominess and versatility to get their riders to the events in comfort.
Jaime Puig, SEAT Sport director: ‘We’re very happy to collaborate with KTM because it’s a brand whose sports vision we share. It certainly is unusual to employ such high technology products to carry out routine tasks at a track, but whenever possible we like to use the best tools and vehicles. Besides, it’s a pleasure knowing that the KTM España riders are using the versatile Altea freetrack for all their transport needs.’
César Rojo, KTM España director: ‘KTM and SEAT think along the same lines. We’re delighted to collaborate with SEAT Sport, because outside our commercial interests, the way we view sport is the same. The SEAT Altea freetrack perfectly suits our needs because its four-wheel drive lets our riders get an up-close look at the terrain where the Spanish Championship races are being held.’”
